評析三本教育史著中的Bobbitt
An historiographical criticism of the stories about John Franklin Bobbitt in three selected historical writings

】
本文旨在就Cremin、Krug及Ravitch等三位教育史學者所著三本專書中,對於課程學者John Franklin Bobbitt(1876-1956)所撰作的歷史,解析其內容大要,評述其基本立場。解析內容大要時,著重作者的學經歷,各該專書的提要,以及有關Bobbitt故事所占的篇幅;評述基本立場時,則以對於傳統之批判與對於傳統之辯護兩種基本立場的理想類型為據。共為六節的文分,在說明主旨的前言,以及解釋史學批判意義與說明基本立場類型的第二節之後,依序於第三至至五節評析三本教育史著中的Bobbitt。最後,則於第六節歸結本文特點,並據以指出進一步研究的方向,以為結論。

】
John Franklin Bobbitt (1876-1956) is an American curriculum scholar of renown. The paper was aimed at critically analyzing the descriptions about him appeared in the selected historical writings by Cremin, Krug, and Ravitch. In describing the contents of the stories, authors' background and books' epitome were also included. The fundamental positions adopted by the authors were also categorized into defense or criticism of tradition as well. The paper was divided into six parts. After explaining the aims of the paper in the first section, and delineating the meaning of some terms and the ideal types of fundamental positions, the descriptions about Bobbitt in three selected historical writings were written in the third through the fifth sections. Two characteristic points of the paper were summarized and the directions for future research based on which were analyzed in the concluding section.
