In recent years, Taiwan's government has actively promoted the transformation of academic research into industrial applications through academic entrepreneurship policies. However, the actual entrepreneurial engagement of university faculty remains limited. Drawing on the Theory of Planned Behavior, Social Network Theory, and the Resource-Based View, this study investigates how social skills influence academic entrepreneurial intention through the chain mediation of social networks and opportunity recognition. Additionally, the moderating effects of achievement motivation, self-efficacy, and social support are examined. Data were collected from 415 full-time faculty members in central and southern Taiwan via questionnaire. The findings, analyzed using SPSS, AMOS, and PROCESS, indicate that social skills positively influence entrepreneurial intention and that social networks and opportunity recognition jointly mediate this relationship. Notably, financial reward motivation significantly moderates the link between opportunity recognition and entrepreneurial intention. The study offers theoretical and practical insights into the factors influencing academic entrepreneurship and suggests directions for policy development.
